"Often, the prayer altar in a traditional South Indian home is a space within the kitchen. On festive occasions, the space is decorated with kolam (ornate patterns drawn on the floor by hand using rice flour). For the 'Oley' cufflinks, I specifically brought together visual elements from burner heads and the sikku kolam motif, where a single line forms a seemingly endless knot with no beginning or end. The idea was to make an accessory that is personal, contemplative and yet interesting. The 'Oley' cufflinks express a fondness for familiar functional objects and everyday rituals, and pursue an essentialist approach to aesthetics. They are perfect for work and special occasions."
